About

This is the rebirth of Ghettocode. After a long time talking about putting this together I've finally decided to make an attempt. I'm not quite sure how to jump into this site, so this is it. I picked a random design I think is light and clean. I'm not sure how it will work out once I get rolling so please try to bare with me in the beginning. I'm not sure what types of information I'm interested in displaying so I will just jump in and create things as necessary. I'm also not terribly sure about how to group and categorize things.

My objectives are pretty simple. I would like to share the ghetto crap I write on a day to day basis. I've been in the IT industry for quite awhile now. Throughout my career I've learned a lot of neat tricks to make a lot of things 'Just Work'. I've always been amazed at the amount of scripts people accumulate over time. My goal is to provide code and code snippets of things I've found useful/neat/funny/etc. Keep in mind most of the things I write are for my own personal use. I haven't made any attempts to polish these things. I will do my best to clean up any bits of code that generate errors but for the most part everything should taken at face value.

In the interest of speeding my development along I have a tendancy to do crap like pipes and re-directs in bash. If theres any tips or tricks to get crap working then I will go ahead and document those on the story page. I think it's also important to note that a lot of my free time is spent writing or audity Ghettocode. Part of my problem is I work on the things that interest me at the time and I have a short attention span. If somethings not finished in subversion it may be finished at a later date when I pick it up again. These are not ment to be finished or even useful projects. I can't answer to a lot of the things you will read about. If I write something, this does not necessarily mean that it has a purpose. I also come across a lot of code I think can be optimized. Some of these things are spinoffs of other peoples ideas. I don't directly mean to steal anybodies fame, I only wish to explore and expand my understanding as a prospective software developer.  I will attempt to give credit where credit is due.

I'm not quite sure about the best way to organize the code itself. I was thinking I'd provide code snippets in posts with download links or a subversion link. If you have any suggestions or information, drop me a line. I'd love to hear from you.
